Best of show part 1. Data has an off switch, Batman nipples, Bigfoot, Bloodsport, and Aquaman’s dark years.
It’s a jammed packed show. We say goodbye to punk legend Micky Fitz from The Business. Kevin waxes nostalgic about puking in fountains and peeing in beer bottles. He also wants to hang out with the old guys at the VA. Then a review of the movie The Green Room with Sir Patrick Stewart. Erica talks manga with One Punch Man. Also secret pillow cases, desert island bands, cyborgs, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
LUKE CAGE! It’s a long one, but I didn’t want to cut anything out. We were on point. So much from the DCMU, The Flash, and LUKE CAGE!! No anime, but a big Reading Rainbow segment where we talk about Monstress by Majorie Liu and Sana Takeda, The Snowden Files by Luke Harding, Pretty Deadly by Kelly Sue Deconnick, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl by Ryan North, and She Wolf by Rich Tommaso.
A tribute to Gene Wilder takes up most of the show. Erica gives an anime update Gintama. Erica gives her review of the first 5 issues of Wonder Woman. Kevin receives a comic and original art from a Kickstarter book called Sh*t Flingers by Jimmy Furlong and Andrew Hartman. Follow us on twitter @PopCultIdiots.
It’s a special pre and post-Rose City Comic-con episode. We saw so many things. Thank you to Weta Workshop and Miss Miniver for great presentations. As always, Kelly Sue Deconnick kills it at the Non-Compliant panel. Then we went to Star Trek improv musical. We got some new books and schwag. Thanks for listening!
This episode we try to figure out what this secret AARP club is all about. Then onto some anime with Gintama and Rinne. Erica and Kevin open a box at their local comic shop, Cosmic Monkey, and talk about their new books Wonder Woman and Monstress. Finally we give our thoughts on Kevin Smith’s newest movie, Yoga Hosers. Thanks for listening!
